Our Roots in Pest Control Accounting & M&A
PCO’s Founder and Managing Member Dan Gordon, CPA, was a tax consultant at Deloitte when he connected with a high school friend who’d started a pest management company.
Dan’s friend needed help. Money was going out faster than it was coming in, and it was clear the company lacked financial discipline and operational procedures. Dan soon joined the pest control company as a partner and eventually purchased his partner’s interest, becoming the firm’s sole owner.
Over the next few years, Dan turned the company around and grew it significantly. In 1994, he sold it to Viking Termite & Pest Control (now an Anticimex company), and he joined Viking as CFO. The Viking team grew the business into one of the 50 largest companies in the industry.
Dan left Viking in 2000 to start an accounting firm that caters to the pest management industry. Over more than two decades, PCO has grown significantly, adding a team of bookkeepers, CPAs, enrolled agents and MBAs who are dedicated to helping pest control and lawn care companies improve their businesses with our proven processes.
In 2012, Dan expanded PCO to offer pest control M&A services after he learned two accounting clients sold their companies for inferior after-tax values with substandard deal structures. He knew he could do better for other clients in the future based on his relationships with potential buyers and his experience working on roll-up deal structure at a Big 4 accounting firm.
